Easy Repeat and Sell Designs; Fail Shame

Published: Tue, 10/25/22

Won't be long now until I am in Vegas at my writer's conference. My two younger kids (18 and 23) are going to learn how to have that as a business branch, too. I love that they're having a "young person" presentation for 21 and younger (and their parents) to attend. He's specifically going to boost their confidence in pursuing an indie publishing career.

We get so influenced by others sometimes - like when someone asks what you do and you say, "I write books." Unless you're another JK Rowling or Stephen King, they sneer - not realizing just how much money there is to be made as an indie publisher. I want my kids feeling confident in their choice and knowing it IS a "real" career.

There have been a lot of former online marketers from Warrior Forum and elsewhere who focused on fiction writing on Amazon and they're making bank. Way more than marketers I know. So it's far past time I do it, too. I have enough skill, and I may not be a perfect writer, but I'm good enough that people in other countries sent me gifts as an author, named their pets after my characters, etc. I just need to find the right genre (I'm hoping thrillers is it because I hate romance lol).

FYI: Tomorrow's email goes out at 9 AM EST and if you need to see what limited PLR is left and see what big, discounted store bundles are available, go here.

Why Be Ashamed of Failure If Zuckerberg Fails Too?

Mark Zuckerberg is (whether you like him or not) a genius when it comes to launching a moneymaking product. His Facebook creation was what made him a billionaire.

You might look around you whenever you're struggling and envy all of the people who make it look so easy. But guess what? They fail too - sometimes in a big, expensive, public way.

Take his Meta disaster for example. Seeking Alpha had an article as few days about Why the Metaverse Will Probably Fail. I know no one in there - haven't heard ANY generation talking about it. All I HAVE heard is that people get propositioned or attacked in there, which is gross.

The Meta launch has lost $18 billion so far. No one is engaging with it. In fact, VR has been around now (affordably) for a few years. We have one in our home. Nobody plays it. We played it for a few weeks but it's not as fun honestly standing there w/a VR headset on as it is being on your PC gaming.

Some games are fun - they're scary too - but meh. Overall, it's just something we might break out on Thanksgiving when the family comes over.

Data shows people only use the Oculus Quest (VR headset) for up to 6 months then they don't even use it anymore. Same in our home. Fewer than 1% of Meta people are even building worlds. Nobody is enjoying this thing. There are bugs out the gazoo, too. Who wants to get on a glitchy system?

But wait until Sony launches their PSVR2 in 2023 - I'm betting that does pretty well. I don't think younger generations want to do anything FB/Meta related. They love Sony, though.

We'll see how it all turns out eventually, but don't be afraid to forge ahead and TRY things. There's no shame in trying to set yourself apart, be the first at something, or even to fail with it. At least you tried! And sometimes, you'll hit it out of the park.

Tiff :)
