Bad Behavior, Q&A, New Limited Marketing and Survival PLR

Published: Thu, 10/19/23

To all my good-hearted marketing friends: There's a new scam going around on social media that marketers are engaging in and I don't want you to have it happen to you. People are SO desperate that they'll do anything for a quick buck. So here's what they do:

They create some heart-wrenching post on FB guaranteed to get you to share it - might be a dog they found in the street that looks pitiful, an elderly dementia person who has been found, or sometimes a great thing - a dirt cheap but amazing place to rent - whatever gets the shares onto YOUR Facebook profile, right?

Then, after you and everyone else shares it they go in and edit the post. It's no longer a poor dog, dementia patient or home - now it's some scummy moneymaking thing they're selling. And you won't notice because you've moved on to other things but it's now on your profile promoting it for them. Oh and comments often get turned off because they don't want anyone speaking up about it.

Sigh. Why can't people just be above the board?  As I tell my kids, MOST people are good. But we have to watch out for one another when the wolves are around, right?

So y'all have been LOVING the niche checklists I created with myself and AI. I did the 50 Survival Checklists and 50 Marketing Checklists but I might add on some other niches, too. PLUS I have some additional ideas I'm working on for other types of content. Stay tuned for those. Also, someone had a great question about the niche lesson in yesterday's email, so I answer that below.

Answer to an Incoming Survival Niche Question

I had a great question come in. They asked: "Is it better to focus on a particular category (gardening, food storage, bug-out bags, etc.) and try to appeal to a larger audience, or is it better to focus on the survival niche through a broader lens and niche it down by audience?"

With this particular niche, I can honestly say it's akin to jumping into a pool - you can enter any way you like. The key is to dominate and then branch out. So as an example, I've had one of my sites be about a specific type of survival health threat. I've also had a site for a specific demographic (women) in the survival niche.

Both did well. You can literally enter it in any way - there is no best way. Your success isn't really about the entry point or method but about the consistency of building it into a valuable resource. And remember, when you look at your site, very few people are going to land on yoursurvivaldomain.com.

Instead, they're each going to enter on URLs like yoursurvivaldomain.com/bugoutbags or yoursurvivaldomain.com/survivalforwomen. So you can go broad if you like, slant it for a threat, a supply, or a demographic - it won't matter. Each URL serves as a door to your entire domain.

Now the only way it MIGHT impact you is if you have a post ranking high for top 10 bug out bags and it's on a URL for women's survival. If a man sees the domain in Google, he might bypass it thinking you're basing the decisions off of what's best for a woman's frame, etc.

But if you start out narrow, make future plans to expand IF you want to. You might have a narrow (yet broad enough) topic to sustain you and keep you fully busy. If you started out broad, just keep building out the sub-categories on your domain. But don't feel like you have to go broad - it can be overwhelming to cover EVERY topic in this particular niche.

Keep in mind that we don't have to do it all. If you're making bank with a site about bug out survival tactics, let someone else do gardening, food storage, etc. Don't spread yourself thin for no reason.

Tiff ;)
