Hi
I am back from vacation (some want to hear about it so I'll include that at the end of this email - and some don't, so you don't have to read it). The day before we left I noticed my youngest chihuahua Daisy having trouble chewing a soft treat, so we rushed her to the vet and he scheduled oral surgery for the 2nd day of my vacation. :(
My grown son took her to the appointment, keeping me informed
at all times. Turns out her far back teeth had plaque that infected her tonsils! Never heard of dogs having tonsil problems but they cleaned her teeth, put her on antibiotics and she's all good now - just had me worried the first 2 days of vacation.
FYI: I delivered all BOGO offers so if you emailed me and didn't get a reply, it means I didn't get your email. I already checked spam too. I took most of
today off to get reorganized (today as in Monday) and Tuesday I'll begin working again.

How Vacation Went for Those Who Wanted to Hear About It
I have subscribers
asking me questions about where to stay, what to do, which airline to travel, how to travel if you're in pain, etc. So I'll fill you in here...it'll be long so click out if you don't care. LOL!
First of all, this was a much needed break to recharge my batteries and get rid of some stress from the previous 8 months. I find being in the Disney bubble so relaxing with the soft music, fun rides, good food, etc.
I tried a new airlines this time - Southwest. We thought we'd love the extra hours it gave us but being up at 2 AM the day you leave means you're exhausted, as does not flying home until 11 PM the last day - so we'll scrap that next time. It wasn't a bad flight, but the uncertainty of seating and it's a smaller plane (in terms of seats, leg room) wasn't as comfortable for me. It's about double the distance from my house to that airport,
too.
We stayed at the Boardwalk resort this time. We've done it before and it's not my favorite but Scarlett liked it before. This time, though, they put us on first floor and we noticed the main doors were kept open and we found five random bugs in our room. There's a gap under the main door we just shoved a towel in there and had no more problems but yuck! We do love the boardwalk area though - it's so beautiful at night and
fun and lively.
Day 1: The day we arrived we'd gotten up at 2 AM and had extended night hours at Magic Kingdom until 1 AM, so we napped for a few hours before heading to the park. I finally rode 7 Dwarfs Mine Train (previously scared) so that was fun and I was stupid for missing out all this time. LOL! We tried Casey's corn dogs and ate at Be Our Guest. I instantly felt better being away from news and stress. On
our way out, one poor older lady was getting checked for a stroke and taken out on a stretcher and a second grandma tripped and hit her face on the cement, ending up a bloody mess - with her grandkids screaming for her. It was sad. But that was just the beginning of the grandma saga...
Day 2: We went to Epcot - our favorite park! It stinks there wasn't a festival, but it was still fun. We rode rides and walked around
eating and shopping. It barely sprinkled on us and cooled us off a bit. We left and had a late dinner at Beaches and Cream - a cute 50s diner where some tables order a "kitchen sink" and the lights go off and an alarm light rotates and they yell about someone ordering it and how it has a whole can of whipped cream - and the entire restaurant echoes "A WHOLE CAN?" LOL it's funny. The people ordering it always get embarrassed.
Day 3: Hollywood Studios day. I love Rise of the Resistance, so I got up and booked it right away. We rode all the Star Wars rides. On our way out, yet another grandma was being taken out on a stretcher. I think it's the heat! They think it's like Six Flags but it's about 10-15 miles a day of walking in extreme heat and humidity. We went back and got a last minute dinner at Jikos - such a neat South African restaurant. We almost got stranded there though! I had my
scooter and the Minnie Vans were booked constantly, with no busses running back to the parks that late. Finally, with minutes to spare, one slot opened up so they picked us up. Whew!
Day 4: This was the rainy day. We slept in and made plans to go to Magic Kingdom again. It was POURING when we left and the bus driver said we were "brave" to get out in this. The bus was empty. When we arrived, everyone was flooding out
of the park as we were going in - and right then, the skies cleared and we had a much emptier park with cool weather to enjoy! LOL. We rode some rides and shopped then went to Shula's Steakhouse for dinner. Highly recommend that place.
Day 5: This is going home day, and we regretted making late flight reservations. We went back to Epcot and walked around and rode some rides, ate lunch at Le Cellier, then got an
ice cream and went to the airport. Some poor guy got sick on the plane on the ride home. Unpleasant. I felt sorry for him (but also don't want him sitting by me LOL). They moved everyone away from him. People dropping like flies on this trip from heat and nausea sickness! There WAS a precious big dog with a small dog bark on the plane, though and I absolutely loved it. It was some medium/large dog that had a tiny yip. Never have seen something like that.
So we had a blast. Scarlett and I love to sleep in and be night owls while there. Everyone else does rope drop at the crack of dawn and tramples each other getting to rides. no thanks. We're going back in 2025 with my middle child Shawn (and Scarlett) while my oldest stays with my pets. He hasn't been in about 5-6 years now and a lot has changed.
The best part was coming home to my sons and
my pets. The dogs were doing zoomies and so happy. I slept like a rock! Nothing like your own bed. But I do love resort rooms. Scarlett and I get snacks and turn on Food Network cooking challenge shows and laugh a lot just relaxing. She's already come out into the living room several times today telling me she misses me now that she's in her room. LOL
Tips for Disney World:
- Use the Minnie Vans if you can swing it. If the busses are crowded, they are amazing and private. You order them through Lyft. However, the busses are amazing when they're not crowded.
- Use a scooter if you need to. I do due to my knee problem (torn meniscus) and I just zip around everywhere - right through the rides, etc. No problem. (I use Gold Mobility - the best ones)
- Get Genie + if you can afford it. Without it, I wouldn't even want to attempt
riding anything. I wake up at 7 AM and "stack" rides so that when we enter the park, we walk on everything with no wait. It's amazing. Some rides have 120 minute waits. I am never ever waiting 2 hours for a ride. Not in Florida heat!
- Don't trust weather reports. It said we would be in downpours the entire time. We literally wore ponchos once for a few minutes. This is #1 question asked in forums - abobut the weather. It rains almost daily, in and out quick and then it's
over.
- Watch the fireworks in each park at least once. We never stay now because we've seen them but you have to see them once - they're nostalgic if you grew up with old school Disney.
- We like to stay on property for convenience. You can wake up and walk right to the park. If you stay deluxe, you get free extended hours where you get to have the park to yourself with other deluxe guests.
- If you go and plan to go back, book a bounceback offer within 7
days. You have to put down a $200 deposit, but you get anywhere from 20-35% off, depending on what level of resort you book - significant savings. You can book it a year from then and pay it off over the year.
So that's it! It was a great time. Lots of fun riding rides and laughing and relaxing. Good to be home now, though and I have another trip in 2025 to look forward to.
Have you ever
been to Disney World and/or Land? If so, let me know what you love and hate about them. Someday I want to try Disneyland but I'm nervous it'll not live up to World just because it's what I've grown up on since I was about 3. I want to do a Keys to the Kingdom tour, too but they start so early in the morning and I'm a late sleeper.
Tiff :)
