An Honest Look at Failure and Options
Published: Fri, 03/11/16
I was going to have a relaxing work day, but then everyone decided they wanted a cookout (me too!) - but that means going to the store and cooking. Plus, my daughter got invited on a playdate on the other side of town, so there's an hour out of my day driving.
Normally, I'd say, "Wow that's a lot. I'm recovering from surgery. I will be tired. I really want to watch last night's Grey's Anatomy episode and just veg out. I can work tomorrow."
And I would convince myself a little more than honestly about how lethargic I am, and how painful my knee is. And I'd believe it. I might not get my challenge copy pages done. And that would set me back a day.
But let's get real here - your problems usually aren't major problems - at least not enough to derail your success. You're choosing that on purpose.
It's hard to accept because I really convince myself it's impossible to make progress (I'm a good liar when I want something and work's getting in the way).

We're always a work in progress. I know I am!
I constantly have to fight myself to be a productive marketer. It can get exhausting. But those moments when I rise above my excuses and kick butt?
Oh those are sooooo rewarding!
