Published: Thu, 08/18/16

Hi !

Loving this rainy weather in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex as I run errands this week before school starts. Makes it doable. Tonight is my son's first volleyball game so I'll be heading out to that soon - it's alumni (and I'm an alum) versus current students, but I'll betray my side and cheer for him!

#2 - Tiff's Best Common Sense Email Tips

I always laugh when other marketers get shocked at my conversions. I don't have a 100k list - mine's just under 11k. But yet I can dominate a leaderboard if I promote something. So it confuses the big list marketers.

Well, here's a secret... I watch their emails. I'm subscribed. And I'm usually not at ALL impressed. In terms of promotions, it's one thing to swipe details of what's in a pack, but many never even know who they're promoting, what's in it, or anything. I've seen pure crap being promoted by marketers who should know better.

So tip #1 - know what you're promoting and protect your list, EVEN if it makes you feel uncomfortable. I have to turn people down every single day and I don't care. It's MY list's back I have, NOT a fellow marketer just because I want them to promote me someday.

Tip #2 would be to personalize it. Yeah, there's always a couple of people who don't care. So they can scroll. The majority DO like getting to know you, and while you shouldn't write 5 paragraphs about what your plans are for the day, a simple intro is fine - it's usually welcomes and polite.

My third tip would be to remember, this is a TWO way stress. Yes, they signed up to you - you didn't sign up to their list. But guess what? They signed up EXPECTING that you'll be the kind of ethical marketer who welcomes and WANTS to hear from them. So read your emails, answer as fast as you can (sometimes I get behind but apologize profusely and try to respond within minutes or hours) and don't act put off if they "take up your time." They're not leeches - if that's your mindset, YOU'RE the leech.

Fourth - don't fret as much about some numerical ratio of promos to tips and instead just wake up each day thinking, "What would my audience appreciate today? What can I offer them?" Sometimes it's notice that there's a big sale on (like above).

Why is that beneficial? Well if I have a health site, I'm REAL happy to a.) know if there's content I can grab on SALE and b.) get a recommendation from someone I trust so I don't end up buying horrible content.

Whenever you can provide tips with your promos, do it. Is there a domain you can recommend? Hop over to GoDaddy and type something in. I found LeakyGutIssues.com right away. Someone could grab it. Shortens their "get up and running" time, you know?

Another tip I have is to mix motivation with some butt kicking. Sometimes people need some tough love. Sometimes they need some understanding. You'd be surprised at how many people email me saying, "You have NO idea how much I needed to hear that! I felt like you were talking to me."

Write your emails as if you're emailing one person who needs your help. Don't be so broad and standoffish. Be available, care and take care of your list - and they'll return the favor by being loyal to you.

It doesn't take much to be a successful email marketer. Just ethics and time.

Okay I'm about to head out the door! Don't forget, I have two things you might want to pick up right now...

One is my Internet Marketing for Seniors PLR (on sale for just $7 for 6 more days) here:
