I'm slowly but surely becoming human again. Still grumpy but trying not to be and at least I'm getting plenty of sleep! We cooked out yesterday so now we have tons of grilled leftovers (no cooking - sweet!).
So can you hear the Jaws music in the background as you surf the 'net? If you read my email the other day about the toilet seat niche, then you may have noticed that every site you go on - from Facebook to Amazon to random news sites - is showing you toilet seats now.
I'm so sorry! The web is good at stalking you according to whatever you last looked at, and when I sent you links to those seats, it let them know you were in the market. Ha ha!
But let me tell you one niche I actually steer clear of and why. Electronics. Ack! But electronics is so hot. Yeah but it's also a fast-evolving niche. And for that reason I dislike it. One TV becomes outdated FAST and a new version is sold.
You get an iPhone and the day you buy it, the next version is announced. I just hate stuff that leaves me with old, irrelevant blog posts. But take a niche like toys - where there are always NEW, cool editions out - and the old ones are ALSO still relevant!
I sell Lincoln Logs (a 100 year old product) and also sell Pokemon toys. Crayola toys are just as popular as trendy Shopkins. So my blog posts never get outdated.
But I could never sell a TV set from 15 years ago. Unless it became some collector's edition rarity thing.
So watch your niche choices and ask yourself if it's either evergreen or evergreen AND trendy, but unless you don't mind being forced to update all the time (which can be exhausting), I would avoid trend only niches.

I'm working on my fiction today. Still wrapping up my last challenge. I'm being overly picky! Shame on me. Need to heed my own advice of not being a perfectionist. But I'm nervous because this is my first contemporary book. Ack!
