I started in 1997 when my son was born and right away was diagnosed with RSV, so I stayed home with him instead of going back to work. I was surfing online on eBay and discovered Elance there. I put up a profile after seeing some of the profiles of other ghostwriters and realizing I could do a better job than some of them.
Once I got my footing writing for top marketers like John Reese, Jimmy Brown, Travis Sago, and other top names, I branched out. Guess what I tried?
Dropshipping.
It annoyed me horribly. LOL! I signed up for a wedding dropshipping site, and I felt the whole middle man thing where I had to go to the post office to accept money and then get items shipped out was just a slow way of making money.
I obviously didn't know what I was doing. But what I DID take away from it was the knowledge that there are consumers out there in a niche willing to buy online from people they don't know.
That helped me see that it was all feasible. Later, I moved on to AdSense, Squidoo (remember that money boom?), affiliate marketing (tangible and digital), product creation and even Kindle. It's always fun learning new things, and with every success and failure, you carry that beneficial baggage with you to the next endeavor.
