Tiff's Tips: Sometimes You Can Buy for the Bits and Pieces - Not the Whole Enchilada

Published: Tue, 07/04/17

Happy Independence Day for all my fellow Americans out there! If you're like us, you're getting the meal prep done for the grill and fireworks later tonight. I'm going to try to BBQ some chicken, but mine always turns out wrong. This year, I'm YouTubing it. I need it to stay moist and I did figure out I was putting the BBQ sauce on wrong (before I cooked it). It's supposed to go at the end. LOL! Thanks, YouTube!

I'm super patriotic, so I'll be spouting off things all day to my kids about our brave military men and women, the founding fathers and all sorts of stuff. Luckily, they get into it and don't eyeroll me.

I wanted to share something real quick. Kind of a reminder... I know many people send out promos that just tally up what all is included in a PLR pack. That's nice and all - I like that information, too. But I also like to know when there are pros and cons associated with a product and how to remedy it if there's a problem.

I was originally going to promote the PLR sale called The Journey to Top Blogger - and I still am, but with some tips I feel are important.

Sometimes PLR is written by someone who doesn't grasp the PLR concept - that it's not supposed to be THEIR story, but a generic story ANY of the buyers can use as is on their blog if they want to.

Some of my PLR is MY story, but it's launched with a specific note that it's my eBook - that I'm now just adding PLR rights to. Very different.

This course has LOTS of good information in it. I read it.

BUT...it has some of HIS story in it initially (not all the way through). He talks about his success on YouTube and being a published author, etc. You do NOT want to use this PLR as is. You'll make a fool out of yourself.

And sometimes, when you buy PLR, you read it (you DO read it, right?) and you realize you don't AGREE with what the author said. Again, don't use it as is. Tweak it.

For example, when you go buy that course (it's under $10), check out page 1. The first page really puts down services, eBook sales and even affiliate marketing. I had to rewrite it. I think he was trying to emphasize the perks of blogging, but I wouldn't want to shoot myself in the foot by bashing the other revenue options. When you get your copy, look at paragraph 3 and 4 on page 1. I replaced those with this instead:

Still, services are very in demand, so it’s a great way to get your income built up online without having to put money upfront for various tools and resources that you might need for other business models.

There are some business models you can pursue that are static in nature. Things like selling eBooks or setting up reviews as an affiliate to promote someone else’s eBook. These are passive income business models that will earn you cash while you sleep or while you travel the world. They’re low input and high yield – in many ways they represent the very best of both worlds and they’re an ideal choice for those looking to earn money quickly.

But eBook creation can be intimidating for many people – at least initially, before you’ve built a reputation as a leader in your niche. And working to promote other peoples’ products is great, but it silences your voice to some degree because you’re sending people to another leader in the niche, instead of your own offerings.

Feel free to use that snippet for your own substitute if you want. PLR isn't always perfect as is. Sometimes it's flawed in other ways, like spellings or typos. This particular book is well written but it also has someone else's story in the very beginning and some issues I disagree with on page 1. You sometimes get a product and can use about 90-95% of it, but discard the other 5-10% and rewrite it. That's still a great shortcut to success.

Okay so what IS right about this product?

A lot! Or I wouldn't even be telling you about it.

First of all, the entire concept itself is great - it's not JUST a how to blog course - it's a TOP blogger course. VERY different. The top blogger status provides tons of other profit opportunities like becoming an international speaker or highly sought after published author.

I liked the way he teaches niche selection in a way that specifically helps you achieve TOP blogger status. He has good info on developing a strong philosophy for your blog.

Chapter 5 was my favorite. It's something I'm currently pursuing online in a niche.  It's about personal branding.

The course is conversational but gives some step-by-step information in the right order, so I enjoyed that part, too.

His social media influencing tips are exactly what I believe - and am learning to do myself. I learned some things I didn't know here.

This is a good product. But it's not responsible of me to recommend it without the small "fixer tips" you need to make it work in my opinion.

I hope my friends celebrating today have a great one - and stay safe. I don't want to see y'all on any "fireworks gone wrong" videos tomorrow! LOL!
