I had a website traffic and also book publishing aha moment yesterday when I was shopping with my daughter yesterday in this store called Forever 21 and I realized what an insane mess it was. Not strewn, but organizational-wise. We couldn't find anything. There were no signs telling us what section we were in, nothing pointed out about size areas or anything.

We had to walk around and just look at each rack to see if there maybe happened to be anything she wanted there. It reminded me a LOT about both blogs that I'd visited and books that I'd considered reading.

People don't like to waste time. For me in particular, my knees were hurting and if it hadn't been for Scarlett, I would have left immediately after entering the store. 

Is your blog well organized? Do the blog posts actually say what the blog post is about (or the domain?) or do they have to start reading and waste time seeing if it might be something that interests them. For example, if I wanted to write a post about how to sell without a website, like I just did the other day - that's what I'd title it. Not, "This is a cool idea!" Cool idea for WHAT? Baking cookies in the sun? I have no clue. 

Same goes with books. When I'm shopping for a book to order, I LOVE the dummies guides - not for their brilliance, or lack of it, but for the simple fact that their outlines in the table of contents are plain as day to me - I can see EXACTLY what I'm about to learn.

This even applies to JV pages. You have NO idea how many times I've had to contact someone who asked me to promote and ASK for a review copy and ask for an outline of what the funnel entails because it's not on their JV page. And I don't have time to sit there and write out a list of every article and word count for someone else's launch. I check quality, that's where my responsibility ends. 

So go out there today and see how you've been helping people find your site, decide whether or not to buy your books, and even read your social posts. Always pretend like it's a matter of directions and if you have no obvious address, you'll have no visitors! It's not JUSt for humans, but for bots, too. They need help analyzing what your site is about. Don't be vague - embrace the lingo of your niche.
