The 1 Way I Continually Sabotage Myself - So Why Do I Do It?

Published: Thu, 10/19/17

I'm about to head off to bed and get a good night's sleep for my Mother-Daughter day out with my Mom tomorrow. We're making a point to spend time together. It's so easy to always stay busy, but you have to take a break and enjoy life before it rushes by too fast. We plan on shopping and having lunch at our favorite Tex Mex restaurant.

So in my inbox yesterday was an email from someone I haven't heard form in a little while, but whose courses I always enjoyed and picked up tips from. It was called 1 Day Salesletter Mastery.

Immediately, I shrunk back, clicked "keep as new" and avoided opening it.

Not because of Garry (Sayer) but because I felt shame and annoyance at myself for knowing the importance of the topic and knowing full well it's the 1 area I really let myself (and my affiliates, truth be told), down.

It's a proven fact that when I take time to craft bona fide sales copy, my offers convert better - sometimes 10-20% MORE than the regular conversion rate.

But what usually happens? I plan my time poorly, and end up rushing through the copy, slapping up a quick headline, a paragraph saying who I am, and the details of the product. Zzzzzzzz.

So today I sat and after staring at the email for a few seconds guilting myself, I finally opened it. I downloaded the review copy and got engrossed by it.

What really bothers me is that I used to charge $100 a page for sales copy (and that's CHEAP in that industry!). So there was a time I really honed my skills. And now? Just lazy.

I got really mad at myself when I realized I'm doing my affiliates a disservice. It's bad enough to sabotage yourself, but people working hard to support you? No - that's not right.

I can do better.

I'm loving Garry's book. He HIGHLY underpriced it. It's just $7 here:

It's a full 57-page course with SO many details and tips and templates, even!

And let's say you don't have a product of your own. Fine. The stuff I learned also works with affiliate promotions AND - if you ever want to earn faster money - working as a service provider writing these letters for other marketers is always a viable option.

The book is enjoyable, you'll find yourself jotting down some tips you love, and it's actionable, too. I love his ethical slant. So many salesletters reek of a lack of morals.

Here's the sweet spot of his course:

On page 32, he starts to break this task up into hourly items for you to do. I LOVED it. I PRINTED this (pages 32-36) and am keeping it right beside me on my desk for my upcoming launch.

He doesn't just teach the writing, though. He teaches editing and formatting, too. These are the little touches that make you look professional.  He also covers the testing and tweaking stages of improving your copy over time.

And on page 49 he has a special 2-hour acceleration sales copy strategy. Perfect for me in 1-2 of my niches! These are broken down into 15 minute increments, so I also printed pages 51-53 out, too.

Can't even express the value in this - and for $7? Ridiculous. I have no idea how long he's leaving this launch on sale price. He didn't say. Just wanted to let y'all know about it the second I finished reading it and printing my pages out.

Y'all have a great Friday tomorrow!

Tiff ;)
