Out with the Old, in with the New!

Well here in north Texas in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, we are having a sudden icy road situation. I was going to be alone, but now all three of my kids are staying home. So far there are 13 major wrecks and 5 of those are complete rollovers. Dylan had to work and he saw 6 cars slide off the highway on his way. I want him to hurry home, too! Pair the ice with drunk drivers and it'll be an awful night tonight around here.

So we're staying home and I have nothing planned. But we'll try to enjoy it and play games and watch movies or something. We also have fireworks leftover from 4th of July so maybe some of that, too!

I was talking to my Mom earlier today and we were both happy to say bye to 2017. This wasn't my best year.

I felt lost in a fog, to be honest.

I knew my dad was about to pass away (lots of stress for months leading up to it), so I found it difficult to concentrate and do what needed to be done business-wise. I got through it all, and hung on as best as I could to keep my business running, but you know when you look back and analyze things whether or not you gave it your all.

Most years I feel proud, but this year I just survived.

The good news is, I feel confident about 2018.

I allowed myself a few weeks to recover and grieve and now a LOT of stress is behind me and I feel like my mind isn't being torn between sadness and trying to be motivated and excited.

One thing that irked me was Facebook showing me memories. You know when you log in and it shows you what all has happened that day throughout the previous years? It's kind of a neat feature - until the New Years' resolution posts starts showing up and you realize that yours always included fitness - which still hasn't happened. That's annoying.

So this year, my resolutions aren't about the end goal or results at all. Not in business or personal life. My resolution is just to analyze each day and see if I worked on some consistency or not. That's all I want - consistency in everything. It's my Achilles heel - I go all in on something and end up abandoning it (business and personal) so I'd love to just take it slow and steady in everything and develop good overall, long-term habits for work and life. Minor things building up into big results.

Tonight, I'm letting go of the habit of beating myself up for goals not achieved and ushering in a commitment to do something toward my goals every day. No deadlines. No numbers. Not specifics. Just good old fashioned effort

If I do that, I have no doubt it'll be a great year for me and hopefully that will parlay into good things for you, too.

We start our Accessory Site Challenge tomorrow! Scarlett and I were filming last night. Also, last night I did a review of a tool called Pixmaximiser where you can post a stock photo image in a blog post, for example - and when people scroll down and their mouse hovers, it can turn into an opt in box or coupon code with link or buy button, etc. I love that it was easy for a tech dummy like me to use.

Here's the example I did and the video tutorial:

Make sure you read below the video, too. Discovered something else about it today.

I hope you all have a safe and happy New Year's eve (and Happy New Year to those already celebrating 2018!).

Tiff ;)
