Christmas Eve

Published: Sun, 12/24/17

Just wanted to say I hope you have a lovely Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with your friends and family (or pets or whoever) this year!

I have one turkey in the cooker and have to start baking stuff left and right in a few minutes (I even procrastinate with cooking, LOL).

I love seeing the various ways people celebrate the holidays on Facebook when I see my friends around the globe posting their pictures, etc.

I'm always curious if y'all put your presents out as you wrap them or keep them hidden until Christmas Day? I always let it build up and have them out as I wrap. Here's our tree this year:

The only thing that sucked was that some toys had such peculiar shapes that my sons knew what I'd gotten them before they opened it. Then I got crafty and started putting the toys in other boxes to hide the shapes.

This year, I didn't let my kids give me a list of what they wanted. I just listened and jotted notes down this year and got them what I knew they wanted - or found things on my own. I hope it doesn't crash and burn on me and that they like what I got them.

Shawn's been getting big into ice hockey (in Texas!) with some college friends, so he's getting hockey skates and other stuff. Dylan loves his girlfriend's Nintendo Switch, so I got him that and some more. Scarlett wanted clothes and makeup, and I hope she loves the cashmere sweater, black suede mini skirt and tall black boots I got her - it's a gorgeous outfit I wish I was thin enough to wear! She got more stuff, too but those are the main items they don't know they're getting that I hope they enjoy. Can't say what mom's getting because she's on my list!

Me? I asked for one thing - a concealed carry class gift card so I could get my CHL. If I don't get it, that's okay. I really don't want my kids spending anything on me, but they asked, so that's what I requested. LOL!

I'm Texan - it's a normal gift here. But have I been naughty or nice? Depends on who you ask! LOL!

Well I hope you and yours have a blessed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I might do a FB live or video tonight with the fam. We'll eat, play games, and open the "elf gifts" - and NO, not elf as in Will Ferrell. Those who know me know he's not on my menu! We'll watch something like Christmas Vacation - my favorite movie! And of course, It's a Wonderful Life. I love that one, too.

The angel, Clarence - the whole message - is beautiful.

We'll also take time to remember the reason for the season - Baby Jesus! Very thankful for all that we have in our lives in terms of love and friendship and happiness.

Scarlett asked if she could leave Nilla Wafers out for Santa tonight (no, she doesn't believe still but we go through the motions). I told her Santa would prefer fudge over dry Nilla Wafers. LOL!

Y'all have a wonderful night and thank you for letting me be your friend!

Tiff ;)
