Is Your Productivity Waning Yet? LOL
Published: Tue, 01/02/18
It's day 2 - still feeling productive or have you already declared that 2019 will be the year you get it together?
So far, I'm holding steady but my eyes are bothering me pretty bad today so I'm about to call it quits and relax for the evening. I have to get back on schedule for the back to school drive that starts Thursday, and my sleep schedule is all upside down right now. I love summers when I can go to bed at any hour and wake up anytime, too.
Well today I was having fun answering emails about the Accessory Site Challenge we just started (join anytime and go at your own pace). Y'all have some neat ideas and I always love seeing your enthusiasm. What I love most is seeing y'all sit down and map things out instead of just frantically trying to pick something - anything - to not get left behind.
There's no rushing through any of this. So how do you make sure you're pursing what you should be pursuing?
I look for a couple of things whenever I start something:
1. Can I monetize it?
I want there to be ample profit opportunities relative to the effort I put into it. That last part is important. I might find an idea like "zebra bathroom accessories" and it might get very few searches compared to a broad term like "bathroom accessories" but since nobody else builds a site on it, I could slap one up with a few posts that link to Amazon or another place and make a nice commission on it over time without putting anymore effort into it.
If I'm in a highly competitive niche, I'll be competing more and doing more to earn the sale. Both are okay. As long as there is profit potential there.
2. Will I enjoy it later?
I used to be really bad at this - jumping on an idea as soon as it popped into my head. I'd get bored with it. So now I'm more careful about niches and marketing strategies and I can forecast whether or not I see myself being dedicated to it months down the road.
Today, I've been going through some more of Kevin Fahey's Email Marketing Checklists and you know what I enjoy most about these? When you open a checklist to print or look at, you see such a nice variety of items included to address in your business.
Some of them are strategic like traffic generating tasks. Some of them are technical reminders, like making sure your confirmation page is set correctly inside of your autoresponder. Some teach YOU how to ensure your SUBSCRIBER is having a pleasant interaction with you - both message wise and technically. Just knowing that he's compiled all of this into something easy - no bulky, confusing course, but a simple checklist makes it an amazing concept.
You could do this with so many niches. Even watching how Kevin has created a product of checklists is fascinating to me. You could do it with fitness and diet, health, stress relief, relationships - you name it. And this is the kind of content so many people prefer now - no long, bloated text but bite-size instructions, instead.
FYI, here are a few neat niche bundles on sale today:
If you're in the fitness niche, consider using these Fitness Coloring Planner Templates for your readers - it's a great combination of motivation and helping them engage in an activity that isn't stress eating. I have seen coloring pages for niches, but turning planner templates into coloring pages was a neat twist on that concept and I haven't seen it being done yet.
Marian Krajkovic launched a Positive Thinking Viral Posters bundle last week that I just found out about and they're really nice looking and work for a wide variety of niches - anywhere that you need to motivate your audience and keep them from getting mired down in hopelessness and negativity.
Tracy and Suzanne have 2 coupon codes for 2 new packs on their site:
The code LEVERAGE gives you $10 off this pack: Social Media Challenge
The code SOCIAL gives you $10 off this bundle called Repurposing Content to Leverage Social Media
Now yesterday I told you I'm gonna ask you this every day of 2018:
If you look back on your performance today (or yesterday), would you (as a boss) be proud of you (as a worker) or fire you for lack of productivity?
You can't just say, "I don't feel like working today" or, "I'm going to avoid that because I don't understand it."
Give yourself an honest assessment and level up to be the kind of entrepreneur you can be proud of.
Tiff ;)
