Google's Burying Sites, Just Bought Review Template Course!
Published: Sun, 08/19/18
I got to see my sweet son and husky this week and it was great! This weekend, we attended a back to school picnic and now I'm getting ready for more events this coming week, including those pesky non entrepreneur friendly wake up days of 6 AM for school. Boooo!
Just Bought This Review Template and Course
I'm so glad I happened to see someone mention this because I didn't know it was out there. Erica Stone has always been one of my favorite people to learn tangible product promotion stuff from. Whether it's dropshipping or Amazon Associate stuff - or promotions for any of my other tangible niche sites - she always comes up with some of the most creative and impactful strategies, so when she teaches, I listen!I have many niche tangible sites promoting a variety of things - from holiday niches (Christmas, Halloween) to toys to home goods to survival gear and more.
This is a course that pairs the FREE traffic site Pinterest with promotion platforms like Amazon, Share-a-Sale, Commission Junction, Linkshare and more. She's teaching you how to hack a strategy within Pinterest to work to promote items on those sites easily and more effectively.
It's on sale right now here and I paid less than $14 for it:

One thing I love is that Erica does everything she can to teach people no cost methods of earning money. Even at six figures, I hate to be forced to spend money on traffic, so I love using social sites like Pinterest to do the job.
Her course doesn't hit you over the head with fluff and filler OR deeply complex strategies. She does a simple, step by step with screen shots tutorial so everyone can grasp it and do it at their own pace.
She mixes some EASY SEO tips in there to help your posts get ranked in the SERPs.
She even does a walkthrough example (I love it when people do this because I get to see the strategy in action) and then afterwards, she goes through some "extra" growth ideas and tips if you want to implement them.
Inside the download file you'll find a huge list of keyword phrases (I love the organization ones because this is a HUGE niche and works perfectly for my home goods sites), along with some help for the Christmas and Halloween niches and a bonus strategy on setting up the right kind of Pinterest profile. LOVE IT!
Google's Burying Sites for These Reasons: The Medic Update
So a couple of people have asked me about something (this always happens when Google rolls out an update) and I thought I'd look into it for you. It's apparently a big problem for people in health related niches, and it's been coined the Medic update. People have heard that now, only sites from experts like doctors will be able to rank.
I did some extensive research and once again, the same problems were seen in sites that got obliterated in rankings.
Note:
Before we go any further, let me clarify once again - I don't care about SEO much. There. I said it. I don't track it and fret about it and write for keyword phrases. What I do when I want to tap into a niche is become a leader - a human. I don't romance the bots crawling the sites. I learn and supply information that can help real people and I engage with them. The only time I ever work on SEO is for my hands-off tangible promo sites. But even then, minimally because I do lots of work to convey good information.
There are a gazillion SEO experts out there who, if that's your craving, will push all sorts of detailed information to you. I'm not that girl in case you need one.
Back to the Medic Update:
When I started researching the SEO experts who DID dig into this update to find out what was wrong, it's once again the same problems - thin, poor quality for content and spammy advertising.
Every single time it's the same thing. Google just wants you to be genuine, be real, share good information, and be viewed as a value to the online community. This is why it's vital that you learn to LEARN and share good stuff - and engage with your audience so that the proof of your value is there for all to see.
Experts say that it's all about Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trust (EAT). So it proves my point. Don't be posting shallow content that teaches people nothing. Be an expert. Share some cutting edge discoveries or your own slants on stuff. Have some authority when you do it. Network with people in your niche so that you ARE the one that gets shared as the expert in your field. And trust is built by being honest and engaging with your audience. This is where video and direct communication come in so handy.
Another thing I learned while researching this update is that some of the catch all sites (even Prevention or Livestrong) got knocked hard in this update. What they found was that more targeted sites (specific narrow topics) tended to either save ranking or improve. And let's be fair here, some of the content on those 2 sites are very generic tips that are nothing more than common sense.
In general, it seems sites with strong content rose and weaker content sank. Nothing wrong with that!
Sites with heavy, severe advertising on them also got penalized. Good. I don't show up to be hit upside the head with excessive ads on a site. Give me some breathing room and let me trust you and I'll be a patron of your page.
Google wants the "Your Money or Your Life" pages - meaning pages that can impact someone's health or future - to be top quality.
Do you have that in you?
I see about 5% of marketers online even caring what goes on their sites. It's sad. They slap up anything shallow or spun and stick a link on there, then cry about it when they fail. Start CARING about what you're sharing with people.
This is where the "quick money" mindset is left behind and you begin positioning yourself as a valued member of the online community.
1. Learn how to educate yourself in your niche. I want you to have this as my gift:
http://worklifebalance.s3.amazonaws.com/GatheringAndStructuringIdeas.zip
It will teach you how to gather and share information BETTER than all the slugs out there. And be consistent in sharing. Don't publish once every third month of the year. That's not gonna cut it. If you were your boss, paying a salary for that, you'd fire yourself.
2. Start getting to know your people. I have people on my list who have been subscribers since I started online - they're like family. Become trustworthy. Stop seeing them as your cash cow and begin seeing them as humans who you sincerely want to help because it feels good.
3. Learn how to network and be confident about being a leader. No mealy mouthed shy people are going to make it as an industry leader. It's okay to be shy in person, but you're trying to talk over a sea of voices online. You HAVE to speak up and stand up for what you believe in.
And MOST importantly:
Don't drive yourself crazy about Google updates. They're flawed. They're always changing. Stay the course and focus on your PEOPLE, not the bots.
Tiff ;)
