Y'all Are Starting to Get It - Now Here's How to Implement and Grow Success
Published: Wed, 02/20/19
The sun is out shining here, and it's really woken me up to be more productive today. Weather can make me sleepy if it's too overcast. (Or at least that's the excuse I choose to believe)!
I'm kind of starting to notice something in my discussions with y'all (via email and private message). The tide is turning. I'm seeing more people grasping the action taking mentality and "learn as I go" strategy rather than "let me learn everything there is to learn so I don't mess up" mindset, which is really nothing more than a ball and chain of fear and procrastination.
I've noticed when I start engaging in conversations, fewer people are giving me excuses as to why they need to learn something else or master something. Instead, they're more easygoing about it and relaxed, knowing there's value in the "do it and tweak it as you go" plan of attack.
You're also starting to understand more about paths - as in there's not one - you make your own. I see fewer people freaking out about not having some exact blueprint.
This is big.
The thing I always recommend is that you DO have to keep learning. I'm always buying courses to go through but I understand that no one course or person will teach me everything. If I even learn one simple thing to add to my knowledge that I want to apply to my business, I'm happy with a course.
How do you strategize learning?
Let's take something I recommended yesterday - Perdew's Novice to Advances Marketing System (NAMS) training membership. Since it's a one time fee, this was a good one, but there IS one big drawback to it. If you rely on payments coming out of your account to remind you that you're paying for a course or membership, then a one time payment won't provide a reminder. You'll have to make sure you do it on your own.
So here's what I would do (apply to any course or membership you take):
1. After buying, place it prominently - on your desktop, or in this case, bookmark the link. NOT in a folder, but separately on your Chrome bar or whatever you use. If it's hiding in a folder, you'll forget it.
2. Make it a point to do a bite-sized lesson every day or on a schedule like once a week.
Now - when I say "do a lesson" what does that entail?
It means you log into NAMS, access whatever course you want to go through - let's say it's the Endless Affiliates Profits one - and you go through ONE module or chapter or page or video or whatever during that session.
Keep track of what you go through. Find out if it should be gone through in any particular order (ie: list building before email marketing). Do one lesson a day until it's done. As you go through the course or training, what I do is create a separate file of ideas or concepts I really loved and want to use myself.
Sometimes I'll learn something from someone, let's say it's affiliate marketing, and some of their lessons don't mesh with what I personally like to do. No problem! Your file that you create will have the things you DO agree with.
With NAMS in particular, you get all previous and new training and tools, so what I would do is START with the existing stuff and whenever something new is added, add it to your to do list, at the back of the line. Don't get all excited and hyper about it being new and feel rushed to get to it.
Okay, if you read that last line and you know you're going to get all antsy and ignore my advice, then at LEAST mark where you were in your training implementation of previous courses so you can come back once you go through the new stuff.
Also, in regards to continuing your education in this industry, what I like to do is periodically set aside $5-10 here and there so that whenever something comes up that I want to grab, I have a stash of cash to dip into. Even adding $1 here and there building up and most courses or tools aren't that expensive.
I do still hear people complaining that they have no money for certain things, but I'll also see them online on FB buying Starbucks or frivolous stuff and I'm thinking, "You have to get serious about your business." This isn't some silly endeavor - it's a real, six figure business (or even 7 in some cases) that you have the potential to build, so you can go lean and skip the Starbucks until you save up for a tool or course and then maybe reward yourself with a treat afterwards.
And one last thing - as you invest in learning, STOP spending money on crappy hyped up too good to be true stuff. Go with people and courses that others YOU TRUST honestly rave about and have used themselves. Some of you email me after being scammed time and time again and I want to know, are you doing your homework?
Think like a boss!
If you had to tell your boss you purchased on a whim, and bought from someone shady, would you be so quick to fork over money? Or would you want to be able to share how you researched and made a wise shopping decision?
Okay I'm off to pick up baby girl. Y'all have a great day!
Tiff ;)
