Emergency Forces Me to Change My Business

Published: Tue, 05/26/09

Hi ,

Boy what a week I've had! I had to abandon my business because my
little girl (age 4) started having heart problems. Spent 4 days in
the hospital and we're still left with no answers. All I could do
was log into my email from the pediatric cardio playroom and turn
on my vacation reply to let customers know.

We're back home now, but have tons of doctor's visits lined up this
week to search for answers. This led me to think about two things:

1.) I need an emergency plan for my business. Four days of
unanswered emails is overwhelming to come home to - what if it'd
been longer? I know I could walk my husband through it over the
phone, but I'd worry.

2.) I need to start setting up many more passive income streams
based on affiliate products - something that would just make me money
on an on-going basis. Right this second, while dealing with
this family health emergency, I don't have time to work on my own
info products - I'm dealing with customers and clients only. I know it was
really nice to see PayPal income daily from my PLR Mini Mart - another
source of passive income, but I charge so little for PLR that I need
to up the ante with affiliate promotions that pay more.

As for #1, I think it's important to have an IM buddy you trust who
can log in and handle things for you while you're gone if it
becomes indefinite (even if it's for pay). They need to take care
of dire emergencies only - like if a customer didn't get a download
or your site got hacked or something.

With #2, I started thinking about setting up affiliate promotions
outside of the IM niche. I do this a bit but mostly with tangible
items via Amazon. I'd like to make higher commission with info
products.

I decided I'd work on this and do it on my blog, so you can follow
along on what I do. I am going to start promoting Travis Sago's
Magic of Making Up for 3 reasons. It's the pre-qualifier I use
before I promote anyone's stuff.

Have a great day!
