Humiliating Blog Mishap

Hi !

Do you blog?

I do - I have gosh, too many blogs to count in various niche
markets. I consider myself a tech dummy, but I can confidently say
I can register a domain, install a blog using Fantastico on my
hosting account, and even upload a theme template to it - all by
myself!

One thing I didn't ever realize I needed to know was blog security.
I figured that was left up to bloggers whose blogs brought in tens
of thousands every month - not little old me. But then my mentor
pointed out that one of my blogs had some unsavory hidden links in
the footer - to products that help "grow" certain body parts, if
you catch my drift.

I was mortified!

I didn't even know that was in there, but he explained to me that
it was common in downloads you get online. I'm sure Googlebots
crawled those dirty little links and gave my blog a ding that
wasn't in my favor. Grrrr!

Then we started chatting about other behind-the-scenes stuff I
never knew, and how even ordinary bloggers like me were vulnerable
to hackers who do everything in their power to break in and
manipulate your blog. They're just after the links and they don't
care if you're a celebrity or a nobody - they're just going to do
it anyway.

It scared me, to be honest with you.

Within minutes, my blog was free of dirty hidden links thanks to
his directions. And now, I'm implementing the instructions on
hacker-proofing my website. I highly suggest you do the same. He
put together an affordable little guide that's newbie-friendly,
with screen shots and step-by-step instructions for this task.

I wouldn't even dare leave my blog vulnerable anymore. Not after
what I read in this. It's like these hacker jerks are on a mission
to destroy blogs like locusts. Make it hard for them to affect
yours and they'll move on to an easier target.

Tiff ;)
