Well. I did it.
I got in the Ustream chat with over 100 viewers onboard and chatted
live with them and what happens 10 minutes into it? Someone asks me
a question and I CRY.
Yeah I did.
I don't know if it was the nerves (I was petrified) or the fact
that 10 minutes before I had just read some personal emails
people had sent me begging for help learning IM because they need
money for medical purposes or saving their home, etc.
Whatever it was, the ice-cold glass of water I was using to try to
mask and stem the flood of tears didn't cut it.
But you know what?
I don't regret it. I was mortified at first - to the point of
wanting to just click out and use a pen name from that point on
(LOL). But the group of people watching was SO wonderful and they
understood.
If you could read the emails I get from desperate people it would
break your heart too. And when someone turns to you and you can't
possibly personally mentor hundreds of people at once, it makes you
feel true grief that so many are suffering.
And I'm an emotional person anyway, I'll admit it. If it hadn't
been live, I would have deleted that version of the video and
started over for something more "professional," but it was live -
and I had no choice but to expose my true feelings.
I see that the video is up and ready now - and aside from me
embarrassing myself - it offers some really great information!
So check it out when you have time and you know what? Do your part
to help a newbie and send them the link - seriously. Help spread
the word that there are people in this industry who care and will
help and I'm not the only one - there are many!
