Loving This Cool Free Tool!
Published: Tue, 03/16/10
As you know, I've already finished my One Week marketing review -
but there was a tool she'd mentioned in there that I just got
around to trying out today and whoa - I LOVE it - especially as an
affiliate!
Here's an example of how I'm using it:

See the button at the top? I made that free and when you click it,
it takes you to DLG using MY affiliate link. I want your feedback
if you've used it, but let me explain what it is and how it works:
It's called LinkedTube. Here are the steps you take:
1.) Find a video on YouTube you want to use - I chose a DLGuard
video tutorial someone had made.
2.) Grab the URL of it and go to LinkedTube.com and paste the URL
where it says YouTube Video.
3.) Under Button Text, type whatever you want the button to say.
4.) Under Button URL, add your own URL - I used my affiliate URL to
Sam Stephens' DLGuard product.
5.) Under Button Mode, I chose "show always" but you can also make
it hover or never show (what's the point of using it if it never
shows, though?)
6.) You can also add a Hover title and text - I made mine say,
"Details about DLG - Click to the DLG Site Now!"
7.) Now you just click Save and Get Code and you can embed it right
on your own blog!
I'm wondering how this tool is viewed ethically, and legally - and
by legally I don't mean official law, but rules and regulations of
YouTube. On one hand, I feel bad about using someone else's video
to funnel traffic through on my link.
On the other hand, the video person still gets added exposure (it's
why we post videos on YouTube - to get picked up and shared) and
they get increased branding for their website, assuming they
verbalize it or even make the URL show in the video. I know I would
still love it if someone used my video in conjunction with
LinkedTube - but am I alone in that thinking?
So how could you use this? You could use it as an affiliate, like I
am. You could also use it to promote your own products!
I could find videos about my Squidoo eBook or Squidoo use in general
and drive traffic to my own guide.
You could use it to build a list! Let's say you wanted to tap into
the gardening niche but you have no product to promote yet. You could
grab my gardening pack at PLR Mini Mart, queue up a years' worth of
email messages and build an opt in page to give away the free report.
Then head to YouTube and make a LinkedTube video to embed on your
blog that has a gardening tip. Drive traffic to your opt in page
to build a list and use the button to say, "Click Here for Free
Gardening Report."
I dunno - I'm excited about this.
Let me know your $0.02!
Tiff ;)
