How’s the One Week Marketing Plan Going For Me?
Published: Sat, 02/13/10
On February 6th I bought Jennifer Ledbetter's One Week Marketing to
try out. I have my own Squidoo system, I also use Craig Kaye's IPK
product, but I'm always open to applying other methods so OWM
seemed like the next likely choice.
So far, I AM learning a few new tricks (not sure if they'll work
yet or not). I do have some complaints - primarily that the guide
isn't exactly a detailed step by step like I like. It has the
steps, just missing the screen shots of many steps and do this, do
that instructions so many newbies need.
My gut tells me this course is perfect for medium-advanced
marketers and could be a little intimidating for total newbies BUT
I am still only on the primary guide, and some have told me that
her course details more in her case study (still, I prefer having
it in the primary guide, but I'm finicky).
If you want to see the case study as I work it, here are the blog
posts I've written about it:
I started working the system on February 8th. Today I just NOW
finished day two's tasks. You can read about that here:

and

I had to work on other things for a few days so I didn't get to
tackle day 2 until 3 days later, but day 2 took me 2 days - and I'm
a Squidoo lens expert AND a professional writer.

Tiff's cautions:
I will tell you one thing - if you HATE writing, this isn't the
course for you. I highly recommend that you embrace writing anyway
- it's something your entire online business will be built with,
but unless you have the outsourcing funds to get the grunt work
done by others, you'll need to learn to write quite a bit.
Another truth about OWM - the guide is sometimes outdated. Certain
sites, certain rules (like an EZA article only being 250 words) -
outdated. My own Squidoo guide gets outdated too and I try to keep
up with their changes and re-release it to you, but it takes time,
so I know this is a problem with web 2.0 sites but I want you to
know the truth and not go buy it expecting it to have 100% perfect
instructions or details.
Some of it is unclear about what HAS to be done versus what COULD
be done. For instance, she explains how many articles to submit to
EzineArticles.com for your lens campaign but then says "other
places I like to put articles are:" and lists FIVE other websites.
Does this mean I HAVE to submit one more article per lens (x5
lenses) to all five of these? That's like 25 more articles in
ADDITION to EZA. The newbie is left to wonder. I'm not wondering -
I'm going to do them all only because I'm working her system as she
recommends it for this case study.
However, I'm sitting here thinking to myself, "Tiff, you already
wrote a page and a half per lens (x5), you wrote three blog posts
of 300 words each, and you're about to write 30 pages of articles.
That's a total of about 40 pages - you could have compiled a 40
page eBook, stuck it on ClickBank and had an army of affiliates
make many more sales for you for all this work - and it's only DAY
THREE!"
Those are just my initial thoughts. Like I said, Jennifer has a
rabid fan base, and I am early on in her system. But for MY
subscribers, I have to be 100% honest about what I'm personally
experiencing as a consumer. And a lot of my thoughts are based on
questions and comments I have received from you guys about what you
do or don't like about this product.
After today I can see where the problem lies in her product though
- why so many of you have given up. It's a ton of WORK. If you
aren't into working and writing, this isn't your course.
Another note - I am going to create a free "Shortcuts and
Supplements" guide to One Week Marketing that I'm going to give
away after this is all done. That'll tell you what fluff and filler
to skip, what you should have been added on exactly which page,
etc. This will help ensure that if you already own OWM or are
planning to buy it, you won't be lost, you won't do any work that
isn't necessary, and you won't feel overwhelmed with the process.
