Mike the Meathead

Got a really fun blog comment today that's just ripe with lessons
for you. Mike the Meathead as I have nicknamed him, feels it's okay
to steal your content. He thinks I'm a crazy (bleep) for removing
my affiliate links to a product I didn't want to promote because
after all "money is money."
He's just a fascinating example of scummy Internet marketing
practices so I hope you'll all come take a look and see what you
can learn.

I honestly feel like we are making progress in the fight against
scammy spammy marketing. Look at the gurus who are coming clean,
reinventing themselves as helpful "here's my cell phone #"
teachers.
It's working.
If we start standing up to bad practices, we could really
contribute to many more people being able to launch and sustain a
living online.
But there's a lot of work to be done to combat mindsets like
Mike's. And sometimes, we even have to shine a light on ourselves.
Silence can be just as damaging as having a loud opinion like Mike.
If you don't tell a marketer when you believe he or she is doing
something scummy or unethical, you're letting them get away with it,
letting them think it's okay.
Tiff :)
