Holiday Inspirational Content w/Coupon, Stop Shaming Your Progress

Published: Mon, 10/05/20

How was your weekend? My son was away but he comes home today. He went to visit friends so he insisted on quarantining from me for 2 weeks when he gets back. He has a fridge in his room (we converted the den into a bedroom so it's huge). My kids are overprotective of me, and I love them for it, but I just want to hug him.

Stop Shaming Your Progress

I have a few friends who are following my progress with my fiction project and they're cheering me on, even as I sit here annoyed with myself for being so slow. I'm at over 21 chapters and over 40,000 words and yet half of me believes that's shameful because it's been over a month and the other half says "Wow! Most people couldn't write 40,000 words worth of a book!"

So I'm basically Sybil. Half ashamed and half proud of myself.

Do you ever do that? It's like we logically know it's progress, but we'd love to beat ourselves up about it not being ENOUGH progress. This sounds like some major childhood trauma baggage. LOL

I'm really trying to force myself to post positive messages sharing my progress or talk about it in a better way.

I know my friends who have talked about it with me, which they cheer me on, counter the discussion with how THEY feel they're failing. I can easily stop them and say "But you're doing so good..." it's just harder to do it for ourselves. Work on catching yourself doing that. Whether  it's speed, quality, knowledge or whatever - give yourself some credit for what you HAVE done.

That's it for me today - y'all have a great rest of your day!

Tiff :)
