I had no idea how bad the doors were. I was focused on the inside of the house and I guess I got blind to them. I kind of neglected the outdoor doors until I noticed them one day and was like OH my gosh! They look terrible! They're 50 years old, so it's no wonder.

Take a Step Back and Do a Fly Over

This book I'm reading about how to study another book gave me a great tip to apply to our business. Sometimes, we get so focused on a micro element, that we can't see how it all fits together. The entire "landscape" of our career. 

For example, if you got online to learn internet marketing and kept hearing about list building, you might be so close to the "opt in offer" topic that you failed to study carefully the other aspects of it - the blogging, the content, the networking, the products you promote, etc. 

This person in the book was talking about how they used to travel through Texas and would see the plains, the hills, the mountains, etc. It wasn't until the flew over the state one time that they could see an appreciate the stunning landscape as one continuous piece. 

She said it was also like gardening. If you only looked at Summer, for example, you wouldn't see the role that spring and fall and winter played in preparation of the soil, planning, and so on. 

We have to take time and make an effort to get a bird's eye view to see where, whatever we're working on, will fit in with our business plans. It's kind of like a mind map. So if you see that list building idea, you can zoom out and see what all contributes to list building. What else does list building affect in your business, etc.
