New Limited PLR - Turn Your Hobbies Into Moneymakers; The Lost Art Of Being Present PLR; Streaming Video Distractions

Published: Tue, 05/04/21

I'm reading a new book about Pegan diets. It's a paleo-vegan combo, and I'm purely curious about how he managed to combine two polar opposite strategies into one concept. LOL! Sometimes I'll do that - see a slant or combo topic that makes me confused and I'll buy a book to see how they did it. Always love good combo niches.

Quick FYI: I scheduled my annual Dr.'s visit for July 8th so I decided to do a 60-Day Alternate Day Fasting Challenge starting this Saturday, May 8th through July 7th. If you want to participate, I made a FB page for us and I'll create a daily post for participation. (The initial one is already there to inform people).

So here's what I have for you today...

Streaming Video Distractions

Working from home affords you the ability to create your own schedule. You can work in the morning, the afternoon, the evenings, weekends - whenever you like. You can work when you want to work and take time off when you want to.

However, it can be easy to let distractions rule your schedule if you’re not careful. Streaming video is a big time waster when it comes to working from home. When the latest season of your favorite show drops on Netflix, the temptation to get in front of the television or laptop and put work aside can be great.

You might tell yourself that you’re only going to watch half a show during your break. Then you get into the show and tell yourself you’ll only watch the first episode. The next thing you know, you’ve binged half a season or even the entire season because you’re invested in the characters and want to know what’s going to happen.

Any streaming service like Hulu or Amazon Prime can make it so easy to have access to the entertainment that you love. And because they’re available on your mobile phone, just leaving the house won’t prevent you from tapping into this distraction

Since Disney streaming is now widely available, this can add to the temptation to binge watch. You can find so much great entertainment on all of these streaming services. The problem is that it’s way too easy to avoid working when you’re streaming.

When you watch a show or a movie, it causes you to relax and submerse yourself into that world. It makes it more difficult for you to get back on track because the real world can’t compare to the entertainment that’s brought you to by a streaming service.

The key to not allowing this type of distraction to take over your work life is to have some self control and boundaries, which is easier said than done. If you’re someone who finds it too hard to have self control with streaming video, then you can download an app that can block access to the service.

This block can last for an appointed time to allow you to be able to get your work done without the distraction. For example, you could block access to the streaming service for your entire work schedule.

Plus, if you do want to use one of these services as a break or treat, then set an app timer to boot you off the service at a scheduled time. It’s okay to use a streaming service as a way for you to relax.

But you’ll want to make certain that you’ve accomplished your work goals first. Have a schedule of what you need to get done before you let watching something on a streaming service be your reward.

I actually allow myself one "scene" per task. So I do a task, watch a scene, and when the scene cuts to another scene, I pause and work. It's a nice little break for me.

Everyone has some form of distraction that works as their Achille’s heel in life. For some, it’s sheer relaxation, for others, it’s getting wrapped up in entertainment or eating – anything to break up the boredom of work.

Consider allowing yourself ample time to engage in whatever you find soothing, but not to the point where it cripples your productivity or harms your momentum. This will only serve to add to the heavy load of work you have to do later, increase your stress and detract from your personal satisfaction.

That's it for me today - hope you have a great rest of your day!
