Are You a Habit Stacker?

Scarlett did two more homeschool meet-ups this week! I love that, because they're all homeschooled, we can schedule middle of the weekday meet-ups so the first one was at 1 PM on a Tuesday. So flexible and it allows you to avoid crowds on weekends, etc. The moms sat in these really comfy chairs in one room and chatted while the kids were playing card games and having coffee and snacks.  This stuff is making me socialize more than ever.

Last night she went to a 7-hour swimming party. I made her a favorite meal while she was gone. It was so odd having her gone since we've been together the entire time during this shutdown.

Here's what I have for you today and tomorrow's email will go out at 9 AM EST...

Are You a Habit Stacker?

Okay let's all laugh at the fact that some of us haven't even mastered a single habit, let alone had any to stack. BUT... if the occasion arose, it might be nice to learn how to stack habits to your advantage.

Unfortunately, as entrepreneurs, habits are something we need. The consistency is what will build your business. You don't have a team to shove your to do list off on.

Habit stacking is where you kind of group habits into a routine schedule. I have some of these - like my morning routine is to make coffee, take the dogs out, feed the cats, and then I sit down and do a series of things. I answer all my emails first. I like a clean inbox. Then I hit social media and network/engage. Then I open a bunch of tabs for stuff I'm interested in - from Disney stuff to headline news to my neighborhood forum.

After that, I get my pad and pen out and make my schedule if it's not done the night before. Oh! And I do my bills, financials, too.

It's mindless. I do this every morning. And for each task, such as making my limited PLR reports, they have their own habit stackables, too. I brainstorm the idea, outline it, write 5 pages, make the cover, clone and edit the sales page, create a product and offer listing, then queue it up and notify my affiliate group who asked to be notified.

Because everything is grouped together, I don't miss anything. If I was scattered all over the day, doing things in between, I might miss a step or two. It has to make sense. My morning routine makes sense to me because it's all stuff I know would be eating at me if I didn't do them. I HAVE to see the headlines, the socials, the bank account, and know my schedule, for example. If any aren't done, I feel off.

You can start off small, linking 2-3 habits into a stack and then later add to it. If you try to start off with 20 habits, you'll feel overwhelmed. Start with small increments if it's time-based. Instead of an hour of learning, do 10 minutes until the habit becomes a no brainer task.

Stay aware of where things go wrong, too. If you constantly see a habit neglected, analyze why that is. Should it be delegated? Are you tired by the time you get to it? Does it need to be shortened? Is there a different way to get it done? It's okay to tailor your habit stacking to be something you enjoy or at least don't dread and avoid each day.

That's it for me today - y'all have a great rest of your day!

Tiff ;)
