My son gave me part of his Christmas list and I noticed it has a 3D printer on it! I've always thought those were so cool. He's also getting into photography as a hobby. He did photography for his high school elective and for the yearbook, so he learned a lot about it back then. 

I told him he's chosen three of the most expensive hobbies - golf, 3D printing and photography. He needs to choose something like drawing. LOL!

Destroy Your Fixed Mindset

Have you ever heard of someone talk about a fixed versus a growth mindset? These are buzzwords being thrown around left and right these days. Basically, all it means is that you either have some limiting thoughts about yourself or you don't.

A fixed mindset is something that will sabotage your chance of success in the future because you don't believe you have any power over whether or not you can change, learn more, or do better.

So obviously, you want to eliminate that type of mindset and turn it around into one of growth and capability. 

Some people try to pinpoint why they have a fixed mindset. You can waste time on trying to figure that out if you want to, or you can simply make a choice to fix it now.

The first thing you want to do is start noticing whenever you are avoiding things for any reason. If it makes you uncomfortable, afraid, or intimidated - push back and do it anyway so that you get out of your comfort zone.

Be willing to learn new things so that you can grow. Even if you only set aside 10 minutes a day to learn something new in regards to this business, you'll feel better and more capable as time goes on.

Watch your language. See how you're talking about your capabilities. If you find that you're being very self deprecating, stop it and correct the narrative.

Don’t get sad about failures. See what you did wrong, fix it and move on. 

Seek and welcome constructive criticism. If someone takes the time to tell you how to improve, don’t get your feelings hurt – just analyze their advice, take it (or don’t), and move on. Lots of moving on happening instead of dwelling and stewing, right?

Have an open mind and it will help you grow instead of staying stagnant.
