Free Gift Challenge, Fun at Home Niches to Work On, No Site Affiliate Marketing
Published: Sun, 03/15/20
How's your Sunday going? I'm making a pick up grocery order shortly. And then I'm making a yummy batch of chicken and dumplings at my kids' request. It makes for great leftovers for a few days. Scarlett's cooking a cake for the family - it's a chocolate cake with cooked frosting. I'll share the recipe with you below.
So here's what I have for you today:
Fun "at Home" Niche Topics to Work On
Right now, families are being stuck at home and while I personally thrive in this setting, others get antsy. This is a perfect time for families to have some fun tapping into a niche - even if it's not for profit, but if so, that's fine, too! It's a great learning experience and keeps everyone actively involved. Don't make it perfect. Make it fun and light-hearted. Let everyone have input and contribute to the family's blog.
For example, you and your kids could start a blog on some of these topics as a family:
- Pets (broad or a specific type of pet - as an FYI, most shelters are over capacity right now and need foster families during this situation)
- Cooking (broad or maybe desserts only or something - download a cookbook if you don't have one and do a sort of "Julie and Julia" type implementation)
- Gardening (broad or a certain type of garden - order some seeds on Amazon and let them start tending a garden - it's perfect timing!)
- Survival (kids love this kind of stuff - such as using Crayons as candles or learning about foraging for food in the wild like which berries they can eat, or how to build a shelter)
- Beauty (if you have teen daughters, this is a fun topic for them - and can include skincare, etc.)
- Toys (let them make YouTube videos even with their face off screen if you prefer and give reviews on their toys)
If you want to, add links to Amazon and let them see how their efforts pay off. Have them write an eBook! Publish it on Kindle and let them see how they get reviews.
It can even be a "kid to kid" book.
Make Money as an Affiliate without a Website
You don't HAVE to have a website of your own to start affiliate marketing. Most people think you do but if you're determined to be an affiliate, you can get started using social networking sites. For example, start a YouTube channel. Create an Instagram account. Have a link in your bio. Start marketing on Pinterest. Use a Facebook Group as a way to cater to your followers.
If you really want to do this, you can. There's nothing that says you HAVE to have a blog.
And when you're ready, a blog is not expensive, either. Grab a $0.99 domain (look for coupons on Google) and get a cheap hosting account for $10 a month.

Here's the Wacky Cake Recipe I Promised
I hope you enjoy this - it's a yummy cake!Cake ingredients:
6 Tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
3 cups flour
¾ cup vegetable oil
2 cups sugar
2 Tbsp. vinegar
2 tsp. baking soda
2 cups cold water
1 tsp. salt
In a bowl, mix cocoa, flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Make three "craters" in the dry ingredient mix and pour the vanilla in one, vegetable oil in another and vinegar in the third. Pour water all over and mix well. Bake at 350 for 30 min. Use a toothpick to check and see when it's fully cooked inside.
Frosting ingredients:
6 Tbsp cocoa powder
6 Tbsp margarine
1 box powder sugar
1 can evaporated milk (I get the larger can since you never know how much you’ll need - just add a bit at a time)
Mix 6 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder and 6 Tbsp margarine in saucepan on low heat until melted. Add confectioners sugar (about a box) in increments along with 1 Tbsp vanilla and evaporated milk as needed in increments until correct spreading consistency is reached. Kind of fudge-like but spreadable. It's not too thin. Like frosting you'd get out a jar, maybe. Thick and creamy.
Okay that's it for me - y'all have a good rest of your week and stay safe!
Tiff ;)
