It's Monday! That means I'm starting my challenge for fiction learning and action taking. I can't let my kids pass me by with this. For craft, I'm reading the book The Art of War for Writers. I LOVE all of the "art of war" books. So inspiring. For fiction, I'm working on finishing that clean romance I started a long time ago. Just want to wrap up old projects before moving on.

Even the first lesson I read today nailed what's wrong with me. It said "The trick is not in becoming a writer, it is in staying a writer." Well that's exactly what I did - I spaced my writing out so far and was making enough to pay my mortgage and then just quit. Poof! Lost momentum. Lost fan base. Just stopped. Have to learn to see it through.

Cover things from many slants - types of games (like driving, shooter, etc.), age groups, console types, number of players, etc.
Promote consoles and PCs (complete and parts - many build their own)
Promote accessories - specifically, headsets, chairs, lighting, cameras (they stream themselves playing), controllers, etc.
Don't assume all gamers are young, broke kids - they spend a LOT of money and are ALL ages and BOTH genders. Don't target just young males. You're missing out demographic-wise.
Clothing is part of this. Hoodies, t-shirts - there are tons of it for gamers, so don't forget things like that. Even bedroom decor because if they stream themselves playing, the ambiance and background is part of it.
Don't forget egos. Many like to show off their gaming montages, so promoting editing software and courses can also be something you make money off of.

Blog Engagement and Conversion Tip

Continuing on with our series about increasing engagement and conversions, another tip is to make SINCERE recommendations.

That means you only promote or recommend things you yourself would use - never blog blindly just to have content out there or to make a sale.

It doesn't mean you have to actually be using it. Sometimes you might know the vendor is a good quality vendor, and that your readers would need or enjoy the product - even if it's not in line with a project you're working on right now. That's okay to recommend.

The only thing you want to avoid is in recommend products or people you know nothing about (unless you make that clear) OR in recommending obviously shady people and products for a quick buck. I actually saw someone bragging that he was a "churn and burn" marketer, meaning he throws everything and anything at his list no matter what until they unsubscribe because he spends the money he makes investing in paid traffic - he doesn't care about the people at all.

So gross. Never be like that.
