Develop an Email Style of Your Own
If you're writing from scratch, as opposed to using swipe emails, then you'll want to craft a style so that people know your tone and demeanor when compared to everyone else. It's okay to weed out your non audience with this, too.Make sure you're not being stuffy and newsletter-ish - be more friendly and conversational (it helps build rapport). Will there be some who email and say "I don't care about your dog!" Yes, but more than those few people, there will be others who love that camaraderie with you.
Have an easy to digest layout - sections, numbering, etc. Something they can skim if they're on a time crunch. I like to do size H3 headers and normal text in between. That way, people can skim the headers to see what's in the newsletter and keep reading if it piques their interest.
Use plain text or HTML consistently so that they immediately recognize it as yours, too. Don't be all over the place with style. This is even useful in the event you get hacked or if someone is spoofing emails as if they're from you, but they're not. Your list will recognize that it's not your "style" and alert you to it.
Okay that's it for me today - have a great rest of your day!
Tiff ;)
