Learn the Benchmarks for Your Industry and Improve

Whenever you start trying to lead a niche or even just tap into it, you want to try to see how you're performing compared to your competition.

With marketing in general, you can get statistics like this using technology.

For example, email companies will often show you the benchmarks for industries - such as MailChimp - so you can see what a typical open rate, bounce rate, etc., is and strive to beat the odds and perform better than others who might be using their service or tool.

A benchmark can be for just about anything - an industry standard. Maybe it's conversion rates or sales or engagement on a social media post. Always work hard to do better and beat the competition (and maybe beat your own standards). Don't get complacent or lazy.
