#4 – Live Online Fad
Periscope. Meerkat – all sorts of live and streaming video tools are popping up and of course, when the “big gurus” are in, all the little ones want in, too.
Here’s the problem I have with this – even most of the big gurus are doing it wrong. I haven’t seen anyone do it RIGHT yet. But the ones I HAVE seen are snoozefests!
Don’t go on a live streaming site and expect to entertain an audience without a plan. I’ve seen people sitting there slowly sipping water, making us wait as they walk around their house to get something, etc. Just poor, poor planning.
The last thing you want when someone hands over their time to watch you is for them to click out saying, “I can never get those 30 minutes back again.” Now I guess if you were a celebrity, then the mundane things might appeal.
I’d LOVE to see certain rock stars I adore walking around their house and opening their fridge. But a marketing guy? Eh no. If it’s business, I am there to learn and grow and discover. Not gawk.
