Let's Talk About Tangible Affiliate Commissions! Deep Brainstorm!
Published: Thu, 09/26/19
Last night my kids threw away all processed sweet foods - Cokes, pastries, you name it. ACK! Shawn even took my cash so I couldn't stop by my Dunkin Donuts and get my morning Boston Cream donut. LOL They're helping me eat better and I love them for it. It's so funny how their personalities work. Dylan's my motivator "you can do it" kid. Scarlett's the nurturer "Mom, you'll be okay!" And Shawn is my butt kicker. He was pouring out my sodas and I said "I hate to waste $12 worth of Cokes" and he said "Well! You paid $12 for LESS time with us, so think of it that way." BRUTAL! But true.
So as I sit here white knuckling my abandonment of sugary food, let's talk about making commissions on tangibles. Because I have a new PLR launch today that's all about that - and I have ample experience with it, too. I have sites for Christmas, gifts in general, and specific niche sites that promote tangibles like beauty, survival, pets and more.
First of all, never assume you can only promote on Amazon. There are SO many sites on Share-a-Sale that you can promote from, along with Commission Junction and even ClickBank now has tangibles. Not to mention companies that have their own DIRECT affiliate program not on any of these platforms.
So anyone worried about "Amazon" not allowing them to promote, don't sweat it.
Second, it's advisable that you have a blog set up when you apply for acceptance. That means you need content. (Hint: this is where my PLR content comes in handy - builds you an instant site without you having to spend time researching and writing it yourself - PLUS, it's well written, so when they come to your blog to check it out, they're impressed).
Third, one reason why I LOVE tangible sales is that people add on to their cart and the threshold for conversion is so low. People basically go online needing ideas and recommendations. Because they're buying as a gift in this instance, it's even less demanded of them that you eliminate their hesitation and personal self doubt about a product. They just want to make sure they're getting something decent for the person they're buying for.
Now in the case of my new 2019 Christmas PLR, which (when you eliminate the word Christmas) easily becomes evergreen year round, what I suggest you do is launch a gift site. That way you can have categories for gifts for mom, dad, husband, wife, kids, college students, employees, when you're on a budget, and so on.
Gift sites are GREAT because you can do blog posts like "top 5" or "top 10" gift ideas where you give a short introduction paragraph, then about 1 paragraph of a review for each product gift idea. It's super simple to write those. You're basically giving a quick summary. Then you're linking to it where they see reviews, social proof that everyone loves it, price, details, etc. You're the middleman!
Get a simple domain like Top5GiftsOnline.com (it's available) or GiftsEveryoneWants.com (available) and then you'll be able to cover every age, gender, interest and more.
You can EITHER target it as an evergreen site OR do it specifically for a holiday season like Christmas (or birthdays if you prefer). You can also have categories on a broad site like gifts for Christmas, for birthdays, for graduation, for anniversaries, and so on.
Keep in mind that there's a lot of PLR out there not labeled "Christmas PLR" or whatever. Take, for instance, the Wearable Technology pack of PLR on my PLR store. That has 40 articles and a 10-page report (which can be broken up) so you can create those "top 5" lists for a blog post for gifts using content like this. Like the "top 5 wearable cameras" for example and slant it as gift ideas! I have all kinds of PLR on my store for tangibles like lawn products, kitchen products, fitness products and more.
The great thing about a gift site is that your commissions SURGE around the holidays. Usually around August through January. A good five months - and then sales are ALSO made the rest of the year. So even if you DO have a "Christmas" gift ideas site, do you really think anyone needing a birthday gift for their husband cares if it's slanted as Christmas? No, they don't. They just want the ideas, so you'll see sales year round.
Here are the details of my new PLR launch here - where I'm giving you launch pricing of $0.50 articles that are based on keyword phrases like "gifts for ____ (mom, dad, etc.)" and that have a "top 5" slant.

Now on the upgrade option, I have 12 5 to 7 page gift guides that DO review specific products. So what's cool about these is that for each guide, there are 10 subcategories. Within each subcategory, there are 2 products reviews specifically. You can swap those out if you want or leave them in and add to them - whatever you want to do there.
And you can break these up into individual blog posts, so that gives you even MORE web content. Honestly, what I suggest is that you compile it into one big gift guide to use as an opt in freebie and then ALSO break them up as blog content. That way people can download it AND you can link to the individual blog posts on your site from within, and even promote MORE items.
So let me give you an example. You compile the guides into one massive 65-page gift guide, right? You use it as an opt in offer to build a list. Then, you break up the content. So let's take the 2019 Home Theater Gift Guide as an example. One of the subcategories in that guide is "Complete Home Theater Systems." So you would then take that subcategory and make a blog post out of it. Now it automatically contains two specific product reviews.
You could leave it like that OR add to it and make it a "top 5" list. Then in the guide freebie, link to that blog post (especially because Amazon doesn't want you linking from a PDF). Now IN your blog post, what I recommend is that you link to the entire category/search result page (like ALL home theater systems) AND then link to each individual one you showcase. ALSO, include images of each one and hyperlink the images, too.
This has worked well for me in the past.
I also included a set of 12 gift guide eCovers for you with the PSD file for you to be able to make more of them or edit them in the future.
And FYI, until the end of 2019, I'll be offering the Total PLR Membership for just $197 as the second upgrade option on these launches. Then, the cost of my membership is going up to $597 AND I won't be offering it on every launch. So this is going away soon and it means you get all of the PACKS on my site for about $0.20 each. Tons of content for a gift site. So strongly consider that option.
